Races & Information

Marathon Tyres Half Marathon ( 21.1km) - 7.00am.
Starting from Newcastle Harbour, running to the 10km start to Dixon Park and back.  The Half Marathon starts at Shortland Lawns opposite Newcastle Harbour and runs the reverse 10km. Note the additional 550m (out and back) will be achieved at the start of the event on Newcastle Foreshore, to avoid crowds at the Bar beach end. The turn point will therefore be the start of the 10km at Bar Beach.  Park at Nobby's or Horeshoe Beach Car Parks via Watt St Roundabout. You will not be able to leave these parks until 10.15am.

NEW EVENT OPTION - NEWCASTLE FORT5 - 7.30AM

This new 5km event event will start from the 5km mark of the certified 10km course which just happens to be on Fort drive on the eastern side of Fort Scratchley. The event will start between the half marathon and 10km event and will give 5km runners a clean run at the 5km Foreshore course. Registration will be from the Shortland Lawns race compound.

The Newcastle Herald 10km - 8.30am
Note: A road closure will be in force from 6am from Bar Bar Beach Avenue to Kilgour Avenue.   The 10km starts from Empire Park along Memorial Drive at Bar Beach just past the Cooks Hill Surf Club and finishes on Shortland Lawns opposite Newcastle Harbour. Parking at the top car park at Bar Beach off Memorial Drive or park at the finish and catch a bus to the start line. Buses supplied from 6.30am from Customs House on Watt St.  Last Bus at 7.45am.

2K4Kids - 10.30am.
This year we are again looking after your future fun runners with the 2k4Kids event.  This race is designed to give little people some big fun (namely those children not up to the longer run or walk distances). This event will be a 2km run around the Shortland Lawns with great access for family and friends to cheer the children along.  This event will not be timed and no places will be given.  All children will however receive a race number, free shirt (if entered by the cut off) and downloadable certificate. For small children we are happy for parents or carers to run with the children, however anyone entering the course must sign a race declaration. Parents running in the main events will have time to finish and watch their children compete.

Race Kit collection and late entries - Saturday 6th April 2013

Race kits and t'shirts for all events can be collected at the "Registraitons" tent, which is located at Shortland Lawns only, (off Wharf Road, Newcastle) from 1.00-5.00 pm.  Late entries can also be accepted for all races. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU PICK UP YOUR RACE KITS ON SATURDAY.

Race Kit collection and late entries - Sunday 7th April 2013

The Course - will be certified as correct see map HERE

Running past or through some of Newcastle's most famous icons the course is arguably one of the most scenic fun run courses in Australia. The course will pass by Bar Beach, Stzelecki Lookout, King Edward Park, Newcastle and Nobby's Beaches, Fort Scratchley (running past the Fort), Nobby's Lighthouse and Break wall and the Newcastle Foreshore. This year the course will extend along Wharf Rd (past Watt St) and turn just past Queens Wharf. This will make up for not running into the Fort and also avoid the last 400m on the grass.

The Marathon Tyres Half Marathon course will be an out and back version of the 10km. Note the additional 550m (out and back) will be achieved at the start of the event on Newcastle Foreshore and Honeysuckle,  to avoid crowds at the Bar Beach end. The turn point will therefore be the start of the 10km at Bar Beach.

On-line Entry Payment Options

To enter the event go to the Enter Now tab above and then click the Enter all Running Events tab.  This will take you to a secure entry system where you can chose your event and pay on line with a MASTERCARD or VISA. You will need to have an email address to receive your confirmation of entry. Please be careful to enter the email address correctly or the confirmation will not reach you.

When entering you will be asked if you are:

   1.      an individual wanting to enter - This is for individuals that are NOT part of a larger staff or group of individuals who are representing a business or group.

   2.      wanting to join an existing team - This is for anyone who is aware someone from their organisation has set up a team entry group. Just join the team by following the prompts.

   3.     wanting to create a new group team - This is anyone who wants to create a team that other people can enter like a business or club/group. This can be 'pay as you go' or also be paid in bulk by the team manager. See below:

With approval from the event manager we can also set up a system that allows staff or associates you wish to pay for to enter on line without paying directly. This managed teams system will allow you to give a password to anyone you wish to enter. They simply enter the password and can enter without paying. This means no collecting entry forms. The Team Manager must confirm the entries and then pay via card or account before the entries can be confirmed as accepted.

Contact the event manager for details of this process on admin@hevents.com.au
